The AMC Tysons Corner 16, located within the Tysons Corner Center in McLean, Virginia, remains the premier cinematic destination for the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area as of 2026. This facility serves as a flagship location for AMC Theatres, integrating high-end auditorium technology with the convenience of a major regional retail hub.

Navigating the AMC Tysons Corner 16 Facility and Amenities

Located at 7850 Tysons Corner Center, the theatre is strategically positioned to serve both suburban commuters and visitors to the Tysons urban center. The 2026 operational model focuses on premium large-format (PLF) experiences, reflecting the industry shift toward immersive, high-fidelity viewing environments.

The facility is optimized for high-volume foot traffic, featuring digital kiosks for self-service ticketing and expanded concessions that emphasize mobile-first ordering. Visitors should anticipate a climate-controlled, ADA-compliant environment that adheres to the latest 2026 safety and accessibility standards for public assembly spaces.

Premium Large Format (PLF) Technical Specifications

For moviegoers seeking the highest technical fidelity, AMC Tysons Corner 16 offers several distinct auditorium types. Understanding these formats allows guests to select the best environment for specific genres of film:

• Dolby Cinema at AMC: This format utilizes dual laser projection and a Dolby Atmos object-based sound system. The primary benefit is a high-contrast ratio and "True Black" levels that standard digital projectors cannot replicate. The recliner seats are specifically engineered to vibrate in sync with the audio track.
• IMAX with Laser: The 2026 iteration of IMAX at this location provides an expanded aspect ratio, which is critical for films shot specifically with IMAX-certified cameras. The laser projection system provides a wider color gamut, essential for HDR (High Dynamic Range) content.
• AMC RealD 3D: Utilizing circular polarization, this format provides depth perception while minimizing ghosting. This is recommended for animated features and large-scale science fiction spectacles.
